About Adoption Week

The 'Bodoland School Adoption Week' is a key initiative of the Govt. of Bodoland Territorial Region’s (BTR) flagship 'Bodoland School Adoption Program.' This initiative aims to elevate the educational landscape, foster community collaboration, and strengthen the connection between existing adoption champions and schools in BTR. All adopters including enthusiastic individuals, groups, alumni, civil society organizations, interested in contributing towards a positive impact on BTR's education, are warmly appealed to participate in the upcoming Bodoland School Adoption Week.

Celebrating the Joy of Adoption!

  • check The celebration will span six days (12th - 17th Feb 2024), during which existing Adopters and/or individuals, groups, alumni, civil society organizations are encouraged to visit any government school in their neighborhood and extend their support through diverse activities.
  • check A pre-identified list of activities provides flexibility for Champions to select and implement various initiatives, ensuring a diverse and enriching Adoption Week experience. Points are assigned to each activity, and Champions accumulate points based on the activities they undertake.
  • check Certificates of Recognition will be awarded to Champions in a ceremonial event, featuring esteemed figures such as the Honorable Governor, Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Honorable Chief Executive Member of BTC, and the Principal Secretary of BTC.

Who can become an adopter?
  1. 1. Any individual, family, group, philanthropist, corporation, college, university, department, or NGO interested in supporting education and positively impacting schools is encouraged to become an adopter.
  2. 2. Adopters must demonstrate child-friendly behaviour and have no previous records of involvement in antisocial activities.
  3. 3. Adopters shoold possess awareness regarding Child Rights, Child Safety, Child Development, Child Laws and reporting mechanism
  4. 4. Adopters must maintain impartiality towards all religions, castes, creeds, genders, etc

  1. Any individual, family, group, college, university, department, or organization interested in supporting education and making a positive impact in schools is welcome to participate in the Bodoland School Adoption Week.
  2. Parents, community members, and organizations are encouraged to take part in School Adoption Week festivities and activities.

Adopting a school provides individuals with the opportunity to offer support, resources, and mentorship to enhance the educational experience and environment for students. Adopters collaborate with school authorities, SMC/SMDC/Community Members to bridge gaps and transform schools into model institutions, aligning with the vision of the Bodoland School Adoption Program: "To convert backward rural and urban Government schools into model schools, ensuring they are at par with the best-run city schools in terms of infrastructure and performance.
